My Purpose
_
To my readers:
My name is Destiny LeVere and I am a Senior who attends King George High School in King George, Virginia and I also attend the Commonwealth Governor's School (CGS) in Stafford, Virginia. The reason for this website is because in CGS, we are required to do a year-long project called "Culminating" that requires research on a topic, where during the months of May and/or June, the final project and project portfolio will be presented to various people, teachers, and experts. This year, I have chosen a semi-broad topic of crochet. I did not know how to crochet, but as a part of my project, I have learned and have begun to work on baby blankets.
Thus, this is where the non-profit organization Newborns In Need comes into play. I have made it a goal to donate blankets and other materials to the organization's Tidewater Chapter of Virginia. I am really impressed with this organization and I have become an advocate of the work done and provided over the years. I love children and think that they are the future, and I feel as though I can help make a difference in their lives and blankets may just be a start, but there is more that can and needs to be done. I am not just a teenager looking to gain service hours or to complete a senior-project, but I am a teenager with a big heart who would like to make a difference. If you would lend your helping hand in my project, I feel as though so many great things will be achieved.
The reason for this service project would be to fulfill my desire of helping out those who may be less fortunate or fall on hard times. I have a tender heart for young people my age, but more so for young babies. If I can help the families in need by giving and supporting their child at such an innocent and young age, I believe the world can be reduced of child mortality and fatality; along with helping to reduce the number of neglected children whether they are in foster care or adoption agencies. I feel it is important to allow a child to have a prosperous future and to not let the parents' shortcomings or misfortunes affect the child in a way that will damage the child's chance of growing older.Thank you for visiting my website and deciding to join me in the mission to give babies the love they need. God bless you.
